In his new position, Gitonga will carry out a range of media
tasks, such as doing research, creating suggestions, and submitting them for
approval to the State House Chief of Staff before they are made public.
In a social media post after the appointment, Gitonga
thanked God, his former employer, Mama Rachel, and President William Ruto for
believing in him and appointing him for a such lucrative job.
"A new year heralds fresh opportunities. I want to
start by thanking God. "I also take this opportunity to thank the
President of Kenya for the chance to serve our country as Secretary of State
Functions,” Gitonga stated.
Gitonga will take the role previously held by Peter Wanjohi
who was a close ally of former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
