Sunday, January 8, 2023-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has maintained that Mt Kenya residents are the major shareholders of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance government since they stuck with President William Ruto while other communities were supporting former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his handshake brother Raila Odinga.
Speaking in Nanyuki during interdenominational prayers
organised by local clergy on Sunday, Gachagua first thanked Mt Kenya residents
for coming out in huge numbers and supporting Ruto’s presidential bid during
the August 9th, 2022 presidential election.
Gachagua said while other communities were obsessed with the
handshake, the Mt Kenya electorate stuck with Ruto because they considered him
as their son.
“’Hii Serikali
Tulioyanjenga Ni Ya Watu Wa Milima Kenya. Wao Ndio Walisimama Na Ruto Wakati
Watu Wengine Walimtoroka Wakaenda Handshake. Kwa Sasa Mtazidi Kupwefa Nafasi
Kwa Hii Serikali Kwa Kuwa Mlifanya Kazi Si Kama Hao Wengine,"Gachagua
said.
Gachagua also asked President Ruto who was in attendance to
continue giving the people of Mount Kenya more opportunities in his
administration saying that the region worked hard for the formation of this government
and should not just be ignored the way others are saying.
"I want to call upon president Ruto to continue giving
you people more opportunities in his government because you deserve even much
better," he said.
