Thursday, May 19, 2022-Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala has urged Deputy President William Ruto to keep off from Western Kenya politics.
According to the Kenya Kwanza Alliance agreement, Ruto
promised Amani National Congress party leader, Musalia Mudavadi and his Ford
Kenya counterpart, Moses Wetangula 30 percent of his government if they deliver
70 percent of votes from Western Kenya.
Speaking on Thursday, Malala said Ruto is frustrating their
efforts of searching for the 70 percent in western Kenya by trying to zone the
region and introducing United Democratic Alliance candidates in the area.
Malala said Western Kenya is an ANC and Ford Kenya zone and
it will be a huge mistake for Ruto to try and introduce UDA.
“We have already given UDA the top two positions. But
please, Mheshimiwa Ruto, do not interfere with our bedroom because these seats
mean a lot to us. Let us respect each other because, after the election, Ruto
will stand aside with his numbers and so will Mudavadi. We do not want them to
start saying they will not give us our share of the government because we
failed to get 70 percent in Western. We cannot get that 70 percent if we do not
have our own MPs," Malala said.
