Major Blow Gideon Moi As Kanu Leadership Reject His Decision to Suspend Nick Salat

Friday December 16, 2022-KANU chairman, Gideon Moi has suffered a huge blow after the Independence party’s top leadership rejected his decision to expel Nick Salat as the party’s secretary general.

In a letter on Thursday, Moi said the party had suspended Salat over what he termed as grossly violating the party’s constitution.

However according to party’s First Vice chairman, Thomas Ojanga, Moi’s decision to suspend Nick Salat was not ratified by the National Delegates Congress (NDC) of 2012 which is the only entity recognized by the constitution.

Ojanga further warned Moi against undertaking unlawful pronouncements on important party issues.

"Today, from a hurriedly convened outlawed National Executive Council meeting in an unpublished location in Nakuru County, the Hon. Gideon Moi issued a letter, citing article 7.2(a) of a fraudulent KANU Constitution, to announce the suspension of Hon. Nick Salat as the Secretary General of the Kenya African National Union Party," Ojanga stated in a statement.

He also claimed that the party had not organised any other NDC to ratify the constitution.

"Therefore any other documents presented as KANU Constitution, or in use elsewhere including the NEC of today and including the one deposited at the ORPP are fraudulent," he stated.
