Thursday, December 29, 2022-Mt Kenya region leaders have come to the defense of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who is accused of intimidating Nairobi County Governor, Johnson Sakaja
Gachagua last week lectured Sakaja over the move to relocate
long-distance Matatus to Greenpatk terminus.
However, on Thursday, the politicians led by Kangema MP
Peter Kihungi said Gachagua was defending the business rightfully.
They must understand that Gachagua was on the frontline
defending the businessmen of Nairobi mostly those of Nyamakima,” he said.
The lawmaker urged Sakaja to protect Kenyan businesses and
rubbished claims that it was a tribal war.
”Sakaja is our UDA governor and we want to urge him to
protect our business,” he added.
On Tuesday, MPs from Western Kenya counties called on
President William Ruto to intervene and end the apparent rift between his
deputy and Sakaja.
The leaders led by Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, the secretary to
the Western Kenya Members of Parliament Caucus, faulted Gachagua and asked him
to let Sakaja implement what he promises the people of Nairobi.
"Sakaja was elected to an office by the people of
Nairobi. They expect much from him, therefore the DP should present his
manifesto to the people of Nairobi," Nabii said.
