Wednesday December 7, 2022-Embakasi East Member of Parliament, Babu Owino has urged Kenyans not to repay the Hustler Fund loans.
Speaking at a rally in Kamukunji Grounds in Nairobi on
Wednesday, Babu Owino, who is a close ally of former Prime Minister Raila
Odinga, urged Kenyans not to pay the loan since there is no prison they will be
taken if they fail to pay the loan.
Last week President William Ruto launched a Sh 50 billion
Hustler fund kitty that was issued to almost all Kenyans with loans ranging
from Sh 500 to Sh 50,000.
“Don't pay back the money owed to you by the government,
there is no prison to accommodate you all," Babu Owino.
At the same time Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary
General, Edwin Sifuna advised Kenyans to take more loans since the government
has no modality of dealing with those who will fail to repay the loan.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto had advised Kenyans to pay
their hustler fund loans on time to increase their loan limits.
"I urge Kenyans to pay their debts to increase their
limit," Ruto said on Wednesday.
