Monday, January 2, 2022-Kitui County Governor Julius Mwongela Malombe has accused his predecessor Charity Kaluki Ngilu of using almost half of the Kitui County budget to campaign for Azimio One Kenya Alliance presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.
In an interview with one of the local publications on
Monday, Malombe said that ever since he took over the administration,it has
been difficult for him to fulfill the interests of the county residents over
how Ngilu looted the taxpayer's money.
“It has been very difficult for my administration to perform
its daily activities, because of the pending debts left by the former
governor,” Malombe said.
The county boss said that Ngilu spent approximately Sh 400
million to fund Raila Odinga who was eventually vanquished by President William
Ruto during the hotly contested August 9th Presidential election.
Ngilu was among the Ukambani politicians, who were on the
frontline campaigning for Raila Odinga's Presidential bid and she was also
instrumental in convincing Kalonzo Musyoka to join the Azimio coalition.
