Wednesday, April 5, 2023-Jubilee Party Secretary, Jeremiah Kioni has dismissed claims that former Prime Minister Raila Odinga wants a share of the current government.
Speaking
on Wednesday morning, Kioni who is also a former Ndaragwa Member of Parliament
said what Raila Odinga is fighting for is a better Kenya for all where everyone
is free and lives in a decent manner.
"We
are not fighting for any man or woman to have power in Kenya. We are fighting
for life. The ability to feed your children. The ability to attend school. The
ability to express your opinions without fear of reprisal. The ability to grow
wealth. Death is the enemy. The first enemy and the last. We shall die one day.
"But
in the time given to us by God, we in Azimio will fight for Kenyans despite the
pain and despair we endure. To defend the defenseless. To be the voice of the
voiceless. We are the shields that guard the livelihoods of Kenyans,"
Kioni said.
Kioni’s
remarks came shortly after President William Ruto's allies referred to Azimio
leaders as people who are hungry for power.
They
accused Raila and his opposition allies of coming after a "power
sharing" deal with Ruto.
