Monday, December 12, 2022-Barely 3 months after President William Ruto formed the government, tension is building between Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi.
When he signed the Executive Order to create the office of
Prime Cabinet Secretary on September 13th, Ruto said Mudavadi will assist his
office and that of his deputy Gachagua.
However as the ‘hustlers' tenure’ continue to progress,
Gachagua and Mudavadi‘s jobs seem to be clashing and this is the genesis of their bitter political rivalry.
On Monday during the 59th Jamhuri Day Celebrations held at
Nyayo Stadium, Gachagua failed to recognise Mudavadi, who is third in command
according to Ruto’s government structure.
Despite Mudavadi being seated next to him and the president
on the VVIP stage, Gachagua recognized all other leaders except Mudavadi.
In order to clear up tension and growing anxiety, Ruto went
ahead and recognised Mudavadi as a sign and evidence that he was aware of how
Gachagua embarrassed the Prime CS.
