Sunday January 12, 2025-President William Ruto has sent a message to a section of Kenyans who have been asking for his resignation.
Speaking on Saturday, Ruto asked those calling for his
resignation to wait for 2027 when an election will be held to appoint another Head
of state.
"I
want to ask my fellow leaders, please, let us cooperate and work for Kenyans.
Time for politics and we do it, no need to intimidate each others.
Intimidations are pointless. When the ballot time comes, each one of us will
present our scorecard.
The
others should plan for themselves; they should not be giving empty rhetoric. Up
to now, the competition is between me and my track record. And there are others
who think that we have taken a long to actualise our election agenda. They
should know that it is because we found the economy in a very bad state. That
is why i resolved that before doing any other work, we must place a strong
economic backgrounds and we have succeeded in two years. Today, regarding the
issue of inflation, we have lowered it to 2.7% from 9%. The exchange rate had
gone close to over KSh 160, and we brought it to KSh 129; we have lowered
interest rates, and I can now say confidently that the economy of Kenya is in
good standing, and we can now focus on other challenges facing the country,”
Ruto said.
