Wednesday, May 18, 2022-Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has finally accepted to drop his presidential ambition in August and instead support Azimio Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.
Odinga on Monday promised to make the Wiper party boss his
Chief Cabinet Minister, an equivalent of the Prime Minister, should he form the
next government in August.
And though Kalonzo, angry for not being named running mate,
launched his presidential bid on Monday, his insiders have given an image of a
man keen on returning to the Azimio La Umoja Movement.
His condition, however, is that the Azimio Coalition
agreement be amended to include the new position, apparently to avoid being
short-changed afterward.
His very close ally and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr
has confirmed these rumours and admitted that the condition is all about trust.
“What our leader is being promised is hot air. It is not
captured anywhere. How can we trust that?” Mutula said.
Sources said Raila Odinga is ready to sit down again with
Kalonzo and review the Azimio agreement and include the Chief Cabinet position
in the agreement.
