Tuesday May 17, 2022-Kandara Constituency lawmaker, Alice Wahome has said former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will still go home in August despite appointing Narc Kenya chairperson Martha Karua as his running mate in August.
Speaking at the funeral service of the late James Reriani Gachagua, brother to Kenya Kwanza Alliance Deputy Presidential
candidate,Rigathi Gachagua on Tuesday, Wahome faulted Raila’s choice of a woman
saying it is a manipulative strategy.
“We are aware that the naming of a woman is meant to mislead
women. Women are not looking for one position; we are looking for equal
participation and possibly 50 per cent of the government,” Wahome said on
Tuesday.
“We will not accept the bait. We appreciate the talent and
the reasons why Gachagua stood out above others including me."
She assured the Deputy President William Ruto of her support
as well as that of the Mt Kenya region saying they had already made their mind
to back his presidential bid.
“Even if we gave Gachagua to Azimio, Mt Kenya would not vote
in that direction. It doesn't change Mt. Kenya because we know we will vote for
Ruto,” Wahome said.
Further, she urged Kenyans to soldier on behind the Kenyan
Kwanza Presidential candidate.
