The Remaining Government Appointments Belong To Mt Kenya People – Gachagua Tells Ruto And Says He Has No Apologies For Saying That

Sunday, December 18, 2022-Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has congratulated President William Ruto for appointing several people from Mount Kenya to various government positions.

Speaking in Nyandarua on Saturday, Gachagua said before the August polls, the Mt Kenya electorate agreed that they would vote for Ruto but he would offer them government positions in return.

"When we (Mt Kenya people) were forming a coalition with Ruto, we told him we will give you all the votes, but when you win, you give us jobs and government positions. Ruto is a gentleman as he has kept his promise," Gachagua said.

He noted that the president had nominated several cabinet secretaries and principal secretaries from Central Kenya to the extent that he was sued for seemingly favouring the vote-rich region.

The second in command, however, insisted that Ruto must favour Mt Kenya arguing that it is the region's numerous votes that made him the president.

In fact, Gachagua said the president will reserve the remaining government positions for the Mt Kenya people.

"Ruto must favour the Mt Kenya people as they are the ones who made him the president. He has given us more cabinet and principal secretaries. But still, more is coming. In the remaining government positions, we will be having a Muchiri, Njoroge, Kamau, Njeri and so forth," he said.
