Tuesday April 4, 2023-Kikuyu Member of Parliament, Kimani Ichung’wah has dismissed reports in some media houses that President William Ruto met with Azimio Leader, Raila Odinga before the latter suspended his weekly mass protests on Sunday.
Speaking to journalists on Monday, Kimani who is also the
National Assembly Majority Leader said, Ruto made an offer of bipartisan
approach on issues pertaining to Independent Electoral and Boundaries
Commission (IEBC) commissioners composition and Raila accepted the offer.
Ichungwah dismissed reports from some quarters that had
alleged the two leaders had come to a handshake agreement akin to the deal
between the ODM chief and former President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018.
"I can confirm the President has not even met with Raila Odinga. He hasn't even spoken to Raila Odinga, leave alone meeting. Therefore, there is nothing touching on a handshake. It has nothing to deal with handshake. I see there are some quarters that are very excited that there is a handshake. I can confirm to you there is no handshake," Ichung’wah said.
